John Mike
Vice President and General Manager, Prometco

John Mike is currently Vice President and General Manager at Prometco, Inc. of Woodinville, WA. Prometco began in 1943 as a Bothell, Washington weld shop and later became recognized as a high quality fabricator of stainless steel, aluminum and carbon steel structures. John joined Prometco in 2001 and is currently a partner with Phil Proctor, who has owned Prometco since 1969.

During the last four years, Prometco has been transformed from a business known primarily as a high quality fabricator and job shop manufacturer to become a successful FDA/USDA machine and equipment manufacturer. The current business basis for Prometco is primarily food processing and packaging customers with targeted expansion now beginning in the pharmaceutical and biotech business sectors. As a small company with less than 30 employees, Prometco is now positioned to grow in revenue and in product diversification in both the food processing/packaging markets and the newly developed Pharma and Medical markets. During the past two years, WMS has provided Prometco assistance with this transformation in developing manufacturing, quality assurance and computer-aided management systems important to the new Prometco business direction.

Previous to joining Prometco, John was president of SimsMetal America. Headquartered in Richmond, California, this Company is the American division of SimsMetal, LTD of Sydney, Australia. John guided this scrap metal recycling company in a 10-year growth and expansion program beginning from a 1988 acquisition with revenues of $250 Million to a company operating across the United States and Canada with revenues over $500 million and 500 employees. He has also worked with Co-Steel International of Toronto, Canada in building and operating “mini-mills” in the steel industry and as a partner in a trading and consulting company in Scottsdale, Arizona. John is a native of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from The University of Minnesota.
