



Lori Province has been a labor liaison with the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO, for more than seven years, providing Rapid Response technical assistance to workers and local Workforce Development Councils (formerly known as PICs). The Washington State Labor Council has administered a contract for Rapid Response assistance to the State’s Dislocated Worker Unit for more than eighteen years.
Before going to work for the State Labor Council, Lori was a union representative for AFSCME (eight+ years), and held both administrative and representative positions at SEIU (three+ years). She joined the labor movement in 1977 as a retail clerk. She served as shop steward on the shop floor, was a member of the negotiating committee and was elected to the executive board of her local union.
Lori has been recognized by the Commissioner of Employment Security for her representation of workers in the State’s redesign of employment services and for her efforts on behalf of the Boeing Re-employment Project. She is a member of the State Food Processing Labor/Management Committee, advising on training in the industry, and also is a member of the Statewide Customer Advisory Committee for the State Board of Community Colleges. She has served on the Governor’s Jobs for the Environment Committee, and as Labor’s alternate to the WA-CERT, overseeing the President’s Economic Assistance Initiative from 1996 – 2001.
Lori resides in Bellingham, Washington, with her husband, Raleigh. They have two grown daughters.
